Will be auctioned by Coys @ Techno Classica "Estimate: €28,000 - €35,000 In 1972 the 1600 Zagato was released. of which 402 were produced. In this case the floorpan was unaltered from the 1600 Spider, so that the normal larger fueltank could be left in place. As a consequence, the 1600 Zagato is approximately 100 mm longer than the 1300 JZ. This can be seen at the back where the sloping roofline runs further back, and the rear panel is different and lower. The lower part of the rear bumper curves outwards, to make room for the spare tyre. The 1600 Zagato has numerousdetail differences when compared to the 1300 Junior Zagato, so that If you ever see the two side by side, it is instructive to have a look at the details. The last 1600 Zagato was produced in 1973 though the cars continued to be listed until 1975. This particular Giulia Zagato is a Giulia example , or the 1600 version of the car and is therefore the rarer of the two versions of the Zagato. It is an original car with a very pleasing interior, and the dashboard features the very nice Jaeger instruments. Mechanically the car appears to be in very good and is ready for use straight away. It is a model which was underestimated for many years because it never saw competition use, but values are now coming up to the level where these beautiful cars should be. This is a very rare opportunity to acquire a 1600 Zagato before values climb." |
